The united states military is governed by a wholly different set of laws then the actual public laws. Having a 17 year old girlfriend is different then having sexual relations with a 17 year old girl. 17 years old according to the UCMJ ( uniform code of military justice) the laws that govern ALL branches of the active military states that a person is not of legal age until they reach their eighteenth birthday. Your state considers you a minor until you turn 18 but some state laws differ on the consentual age for sex. The Military does not. If for some reason he was found to be sexually active with a partner under the age of 18 he would be prosecutable under the laws of the ucmj. He would be given an article 15 and possibly jailed/ fined and he would absolutely be thrown out of the military. SO Girlfriend no problem sex buddy big problem. Hope this helps.

it depends on whether or not your parents are ok with it. my boyfriend is in the army and he's 20, i'm 17. my parents are okay with it. we're getting married this year, so i don't think it's that big of a deal. my bayfriend hasn't got in trouble yet. i wouldn't worry about it unless he's like a lot older than you. a few years older is ok. but if he's like 30, then you have issues. The military doesn't care how old their soldiers spouse/girlfriends are, they won't even check into it, so don't worry. i've been dating my boyfriend for 3 years since he joined the army, and his NCO knows i'm only 17 and they haven't said anything yet, so don't worry about it.

No they can't, and yes they will get in trouble, and trouble for them is more than if they were a civilian. Wait until your 18:) And it doesn't matter what state, the military is pretty clear about 18 is legal age, period, no questions asked.

Marines are subject to the same laws as the rest of us (and some extras under the UCMJ).

However, if they are serving in a foreign country, they are subject to those laws as well. So if they were in Britain, 16 is legal.

As long as it does break any statutory laws it should be fine (i.e: in VA, it's statutory if someone over 18 has sex with someone under 18 if the age difference is more than 3 years.

Sure you can have a g/f of ANY age.
But you can't do anything sexual with her if she's under the age of consent (varies from state to state, usually 18).
And anything sexual can mean deep kissing, if the girl gets turned on by it, because there's a law against "sexually exciting" a minor.

No. If you are caught, you can be court martialed..Why would you want to date a child anyway?

You are committing abuse of a minor child..... The legal age in the military is 18.

Don't risk your career - and - if you are court martialed, it will follow you the rest of your life. It will have a serious effect on your work life.
