I was reading recipes in the internet, and found a tasty looking one that is supposedly like rotiesserie chicken when done. Has anyone tried this recipe? Do you have any tips? Thanks!

Take a look at this recipe, my entire family goes crazy for it!

Rotisserie Slow Cooker Chicken

INGREDIENTS
1 (2 to 3 pound) whole chicken
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon paprika
DIRECTIONS
Wad three pieces of aluminum foil into 3 to 4 inch balls, and place them in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Rinse the chicken, inside and out, under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels. Season the chicken with the salt, pepper and paprika, and place in the slow cooker on top of the crumbled aluminum foil.
Set the slow cooker to High for 1 hour, then turn down to Low for about 8 to 10 hours, or until the chicken is no longer pink and the juices run clear.

Crock Pot Rotisserie Chicken:

1. Make 4 or 5 loose balls of aluminum foil and place in bottom of crock pot.
2. Clean chicken inside and out. Spray with olive oil spray.
3. Sprinkle generously inside and out with seasoned salt.
4. Put chicken back-side down in crock pot (on top of foil balls).
5. Cook on high 4-6 hours.

Do you have a link to the recipe... I'd like to try it this weekend.

However based upon the recipe posted above (8 hours or more in the crock), I would probably brine the chicken before putting into the crock pot or buy my chicken at a Super Wal-Mart (their chickens are injected with a broth... pre-brined), in order to prevent drying.

Also, I don't see the chicken browning as it would roasting in an oven.

We'll see.

Yes, lots of people dont' know that you can "roast" foods in a crock pot. I've even done baked potatoes. Just wrap them in foil and turn it on. The rotisserie chicken is good, season it, wrap it in foil (do not add water) and put it on low.

Ive done something similar with Cornish Hens. Fill the crock pot with all your favorite vegges, I used zucchini, squash, onions, broccoli, and cubed potatoes. For the broth I used V-8 Juice, which gave it a nice touch. Season the Hens and place them on top of the mixture leaving about half of the birds exposed above. Cover and simmer on high all day and Enjoy.

Also Mccormick's makes a rotisserie seasoning that is really good.

I usually use it making the beer can chicken in the oven.

I have made the crockpot version with the foil but I prefer the beer can chicken. either way the rotisserie seasing is really good.

ball up foil and put it in the bottom of the crock pot so the chicken doesn't touch the bottom. add a little bit of broth to the bottom. season, and cook!

good luck!
