For the same reasons that anyone else has health insurance despite the fact that it does not insure their health

Come on. That's like asking - why did God give Christians a brain? Obviously we don't need one since we don't think for ourselves. Why do we see doctors, open savings accounts, insure cars, homes, businesses, etc.? Why do we use any modern technology or conveniences?

We do rely on the power of prayer and yet, as life goes, we still
experience Cancer, Aides, heart attack, loved ones who need life support for months, pre-mature babies, infertility, the emergency room. These illnesses and conditions can cost more to treat than some of us can imagine, Christian or not. Health insurance is about being able to afford the care of the medical profession, not staying healthy until we one day fly off to the heavens.

My sister in law had two sons, both born pre-maturely, requiring hospital stays so they would survive, each costing in excess of one million dollars. They would have lost their home, business and everything else they had just to pay these bills. We live in the same world. Medical bills are contracted for reduced fees through health insurance carriers. Without those contracts, everyone would pay inflated prices. We are expected to be good stewards with what we are given, and health insurance is a wise investment.

Prayer - it takes the focus off of me and my problems, and causes me to focus on the One who made me, loves me, and knows me, beginning to end. There is comfort found there. It's not a shopping mart for all of my wants. I'd like a new car, but there's not one out in the garage. I've prayed about it, but I just didn't get it. Maybe I should question the One I pray to??? Did your dad give you everything you asked for? Well, this One wont either, but like our earthly parents, it's because He knows what's best for us. And I trust in that!

I am a Christian and I serve a God of order. God leads me towards a variety of solutions some of which are carried out by brilliant medical doctors. If God wants to heal people through through the power of prayer; be it by the guided hands of a gifted sergeon or by some other process (in accordance to His will)...so shall it be!
Health insurance is an added blessing and a result of prayer! Luke one of the twelve disciples was a physician.Colossians 4:14

why does anyone have Health Insurance.
then thing you need to know is that you don't have to single out Christians or discrimate against them . There Human too nothing has hanged but just the way they choose to live there life.
Anyone can have Health insurance we all get sick some worse then others. but Religon has nothing to do with it.
Prayer is good thing to do but it isn't intended to cure every thing. God didn't intend that every little things that happenes in a person's life is granted. it takes you alot of you to want to do better or what ever it may be and it takes faith in God to make it happen. but NO don't single out a group of people when it comes to the obevious things.
also Christians don't just pray for healing or to get better, but for others and other things going on. Health insurance and pray have nothing in common.
sorry but it's kind of offencive to compare these too things together.

I am a Christian and I don't have Health Insurance but I don't blame those that have one...may God help you understand that we are here to live a happy life and FIND GOD not to judge each other. This world is transformed day after day by its master satan...all human beings are like under a spell or something magic...ONLY THROUGH PRAYER you can be what GOD wants you to be. Without prayer we're nothing...satan does everything he wants with the minds that are not filled with prayer, REAL PRAYER. May God bless you with what you need best!

Because Christians also have children, and they have health insurance for the same reasons other families do. We also rely on the power of prayer.

Because they have to pay bills just like everyone else!

This type of question is the same as asking why do Christians have to put gas in their tanks? or pay a mortgage? or wear glasses? Because sin has entered the world we must suffer the same as all mankind.

Matthew 5:45 says, "...For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and on the unjust, too." NLT

If the Apostle Paul had had health insurance he might have been able to rid himself of the thorn in his flesh.

Because health insurance is common sense. God does not only use prayer for healing. He uses the men and women whom He has blessed with the medical knowledge and insight of the human body to heal also.

Jesus fed the 5000, but never told us not to stop buying food
Jesus produced money from a fish's mouth, but never told us to stop working
And Jesus healed, but he never told us to not use medicine. Jesus himself said that "the sick have need of a physician".

In the scripture, many of the Laws of the Old (and New) Testament are designed to encourage health. You are to wash properly, eat the right food, exercise, avoid contact with dead bodies, bury your "waste", etc. So God expects his people to use common sense to keep themselves healthy. That can include things like regular checkups, medication to keep a person healthy (such as my wives estrogen now that she is in menopause). Not all visits to a doctor are because you are "sick".

Since those visits cost money, it only make sense to have insurance. Bad enough that satan is attacking your health. You don't need him to take your wealth at the same time.

Where the Christian have the advantage is that we can combine the medicines and health rules that God gave with the power of prayer and make them more effective. Or, like a few years back when my wife was diagnosed with a rare, normally fatal, form of muscle cancer, something we can use when the others can not help. (Through prayer, she has been healed and cancer free now for over seven years).

sYou must be either an atheist or agnostic.Being a Christian does not guarantee a healthy or free from problems life. prayers do help in some cases, not in others. rewards for Christians come in the afterlife. a place in Heaven that is the place you do not need health insurance :-) Here on earth it is a necessity.

Christians believe the Bible that teaches that all people die, and that sickness is a common occurance. The Bible also teaches about certain natural processes of healing. Miraculous healing is not a common occurance. That is why the Bible relates instances of miraculous healing as something special.
In my life (I am 57) I have seen only one instance of what I believe is miraculous healing. I didn't need that to be a believer, it just happened. In most cases, God uses natural means, (by "natural", I am not referring to naturopathic medicine, I am referring to doctors, etc.), and we pray that He will accompany those means which He has provided us in nature and in our human intelligence.
In the same way that a Christian builder doesn't expect the building to go up miraculously overnight. He knows he has work to do. But if he is a praying man, he will surely ask God to help him do a good job.
