I don't want to build it from a kit and i don't know what parts to get or how to arrange them and which bits to connect to different places. If you know of a good site I could look at please include it in your answer

Scores, perhaps hundreds, of different Erector Set kits have been made over the decades, most famously the "No. 12 1/2" deluxe kit that came with blueprints for the "Mysterious Walking Giant" robot.
I had a No. 12 1/2" , it was NEATO fun!
