Since Mayor's have that power in cities, I was married to my wife by a Mayor of a city.
Does this proposal upset some of the regulars in this category? If so, why would two people of the same gender being married upset you?

I think you should, it could get very interesting.
Two people of the same gender doesn't upset me. No reason to, as long as I wasn't already married to one of them. :)

You could perform same sex marriages as the Mayor of Religion and Spirituality, but they may be outlawed by the Governor of Society and Culture, or even the President of Yahoo Answers. Two people of the same sex being married doesn't upset me. I don't agree with it, but then again, why shouldn't two people be happy if it's not hurting me?

Well if avatars are going to start getting married I think there needs to be open voting on the rules of marriage on answers.
I propose that no two avatars of the same belief system should be allowed marry in order to propote open thinking. Also that they remain married until violations cause the death of one party.

Same sex marriages have no use in society,.
doughnut makers only exhaust them selves.
there is no biological reason for them to be married.
Marriage was created by the creator of the whole world, there for it is Holy. and not to be thrown before swine.
you go and make your own union, but it will not be recognised by Heaven.

I'm not sure how legal they would be, but marry anyone who wants to be married whatever their gender. People need to keep their religion out of other people's lives.
