I get gold finch in my garden, they come for a few weeks then i dont see them for a few weeks. Anyone know why. I always have there food out for them!

I have had the Goldfinch in my garden for bout 3 years now, they dont change there colour, they dont move far from there original nesting place. they seem to come for a few weeks then disappear for a few weeks. I just wonder why????

I get this as well. I think they prefer fresh food and find it a various times of the year. They like teasels. I am in UK

They migrate to different areas during the year. You didn't say where you are but if you have them now you must live in California or somewhere else in the southern US? I live in Washington State and I don't expect that the goldfinches will arrive for a couple of more months when it gets a little warmer. They usually are her in late spring and then through the summer. Once it gets cold they will be gone again.

They may migrate depending where you live .But most likely they are there but have changed from the summer to winter colors and you don't realize it
In the winter they are a dull light brown to green color in the summer they change to a brilliant yellow and black

Gold Finch love to feed on seeds and especially seed heads in summer. Plant flowers with seed heads, and if they're in your area, they'll find them.
