I have recently broken up with my boyfriend. I was hurt and surprised, and his good friend is my even better friend. I basically ranted to my friend and got his take on things, but now feel very bad. I apologized for creating a potentially awkward situation, and let him know I really had no hard feelings (if someone doesn't love you, they just don't) and we're all still going to be friends, but I can't help but feel like I should have just kept my mouth shut. Keep in mind I'm closer to my friend than my ex. What do you think?

I don't think there was any harm done.

Like you said, you're closer to the friend than your ex is. So you went to a close friend and vented. There is nothing wrong with that at all.

If they didn't want to be in that potentially awkward situation, they would have told you not to get them involved. But since they didn't, then don't worry.

Hope this helped and wish you the best in all!

You did the right thing. You expressed your feelings to your friend - that's what friends are for - and you also expressed to this person that you felt uncomfortable expressing yourself like that. You were open and honest. That's the best thing you could have done. If this is really your friend, they will understand and not create a bigger situation for you.

Friends are there to listen and help you should have also considered your Friends feelings but sometimes you are over run with emotions. Take it as a lesson learned and don't worry about it as long as they say they are okay with it.
