I play flute and piano. I recently had a daughter who takes up most of my time. I wasn't able to practice the flute very much during pregnancy because I had no breath support. I got out of the habit of practicing, and need to get back in the game. Any tips on getting motivated to practice again?

By making it a routine. Have a time each day that is for you alone to do some practice, once you get into the swing of it it will come naturally and not seem like a chore!

congratulations on the birth of your child!
Pregnancy has this major drawback to it for us breath oriented musicians and singers, simply because baby needs all that room.
Please consider that your body, which has taken nine months to make the baby, now needs at least six weeks before the uterus is back to pre-pregnancy size. Your stomach and back muscles, which are your breathing impetus, also need recovery time. You have also undertaken, by bearing the child, the hardest work known to woman. ( Unless you've done one of those superhuman stop a truck to save a child things....)
Give yourself all the praise you can handle, love yourself and your baby, and take some time.
At about six months, baby will have settles into a routine ( we hope) and you will then have the impetus to practice again.
If you took pre-natal exercise courses, please check with your trainer. there are also post-natal courses to help your abdominal muscles tone up again. Or your local exercise club??
As anna m and others have mentioned, the time will be right again, but do keep your flute in sight!
Best wishes for your new family

You just keep your flute where you see it. YOu could keep it in the kitchen or maybe near your favorite chair. somewhere, because if you see it, you are more likely to think about playing it. If you are busy , like me , you may want to play, but don't really have time. YOu also could make a schedule of what has to get done each day and pick a certain time to practice each day.
Hope this helps.

congrats on your new arrival!!!

I really struggled with singing and breathing during and after pregnancy, and it did take me a long time to regain the support. don't worry about practising yet, enjoy your little bundle of joy, the time will come when you don't need the motivation, you'll just fit it into your routine, forcing it now will just stress you out when you have so much other stuff to do, and baby probably hasn't got a stable routine yet, so you'll never know where you are!!!!

work on the breathing, strengthening up those muscles, and filling those lungs.... while your hushing and shhushing little one!

the best way to get motivated to practice to practice..if u start practice something, u'll start gainin success in it and u'll be motivated to practice more..in other words... to really do something, what a prsn really needs to do is to- start.

Get your daughter used to the keyboard. She will love it.

Then... you have to realise that your stomach muscles will take some time to reconstitute. Start easy breathing exercises... and realise that your diaphragm WILL recover.

It's not going to be easy - you'll have to find time to practice - but, eventually, it will all make sense!

Especially when you and your daughter find common ground. When you find music together.
