My sentiments exactly - there is no point to it, it just seems to comfort people who fear death and need something to blindly believe.

People cause war and arguments regardless of religious belief, most wars have been over land and borders, the present war on terror is not an attempt to spread islam but more an attack at the western nations for being right arses (I'm not sure they use those terms but the sentiments the same), The issues in ireland are much the same, it is a loyalist and nationalist divide not a religious one, Religion is the search for truth and moral improvement but people disagree as to the truth and this is what causes tension but this again is a human flaw and not one isolated to religion

Wars and arguments can be caused by anything. Religion is just a convenient excuse, which is why I find it surprising that people on Yahoo Answers! still think that religion is a cause of war.

Religion is about edifying souls, developing civilization and advancing human consciousness.

In olden days, when the arrival of the rains was literally a matter of life and death, people would do most anything to attempt to encourage the rain, and if that meant trying to propitiate the rain gods, that's what one did. Nowadays, we know how things work, and that sort of nonsense is no longer necessary. Indeed, it is counterproductive, as any reading of history including Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Kashmir, Kosovo, Chechniya, and countless other places shows all too well.

"religion causes war" has become the mantra here on Y! A, but I think if religion died out people would be quick to find some other aspect of their identity to fight over.

Religion does not cause war; people's fear of death does, the fear of the ego perishing which is in fact groundless as we have eternal souls at our very essence.

To brainwash the masses in thinking there way is the only way to live or you go to hell which is ridiculous.God resides within a person and not in a book of human ideas and rules .Use a little common sense and morals that are instinctively in us already

Dear ioy,

Organized religion came about to control the masses. It is still used for that purpose. You do not have to look very hard to see that is true.

I am spiritual not religious, I believe in a god/father of love/fellowship. I believe one needs to search inward for the truth not outward. Ask for quidance search out all the information you can, pretend you are totally open-minded, let all the information in, ponder it, ask for quidance to pick out what is truth for you at this point of your journey and toss out the rest.

choose love in all you do and desire with all your heart to get back to father, or choose dominion and go to the other place.

What if heaven and hell are exactly the same except for one difference? What ever you picture in your head heaven to be, imagine hell to be the same except for one difference. Everything you can do in heaven you can do in hell except for one difference. The difference is love or dominion. If you choose love you are in heaven, you are sharing love/joy/fellowship, absolute bliss in all you do.

If you choose dominion you are in hell, everyone will be dominion bent, acting without regard to anything but personal pleasure, personal gain, exercising power over others. Everyman for himself in all that is done. Everything else is the same.

Now which path do/will you choose? LOVE or DOMINION

P.S. Doesn't hell feel a lot like earth?
P.S. S. If you choose dominion click on exit, there is nothing here for you.

It's a means of passing pointless waffle on to the masses in the hopes that they will pay cash for more!
