I can't seem to fix this problem! My skin can get really dry and even flaky, but it's oily underneath and I still get a few pimples and blackheads. Help!

First of all you will need a good face wash. It is highly recommended that you use a fragrance-free, non comedogenic, oil free, soap free face wash. Basically the simpler the better. You can totally try the neutrogena's, the biore's and all that stuff, but there are so many different types of them! The one's I highly recommend and have worked for me are: Dove sensitive skin face wash, Purpose gentle cleansing wash, and the one I am trying out now, Clean and Clear blackhead clearing scrub. They are all great, but seeing how I'm a guy and I have a greater amount of facial hair than women (or at least most of them), I need to find something that's agressive against pimples caused by the follicles of my hair. So far the Clean and Clear has worked wonders. Since it's a scrub, it removes anything your skin isn't using anymore. It also leaves your skin feeling like a baby's bottom.
As far as moisturizers are concerned ( I know I know, that's what you wanted to know about, but I HAD to start with the cleanser first), there are a couple of them that work on your skin. Remember, with these as well, you want to keep them fragrance free, non comedogenic, hypoallergenic, blah blah blah. Okay so the first one I strongly recomment, but it might end up making your skin feel really greasy is the Cetaphil lotion. I recommend this one before bed time. What I tend to do is put a thin layer all over my face, making it look like a mask. That works great on your skin, but yeah the down side is the greasy feeling. The next one I recomment and keep in mind that it is a very good idea if you buy one that has at least an SPF of 15, is the Dove moistourizer with the blue cap. I think it's Dove Deep Moisturizer? Well, it's always good to keep your face moisturized but as much moisturizer as you want to use, you will probably end up needing to use some type of topical cream for the pimples and blackheads. A good combination would be a good cleanser day and night, something with salycic(excuse the spelling) acid for the day, and a good moisturizer for the night.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Please do laugh but get proactiv. I had the same problem and no matter what i use it made my skin get very very oily. Proactiv has moisturizers with power in them to help with the oil underneath and a light moisturizer that adds some shine. Now I am not talking about the proactiv pimple cream but the other products the offer. I went to there website and you can buy make up moisturizers all kind of things. Check it out you never know it might work.

I have the same issues and have used clinque with very bad results and have used proactive. The only thing I like from proactive is the repairing lotion. Right now I am using the rice face cream from Fresh which is really pricey, but gives my skin a really silky feel, as for afternoon oiliness I used Chanel shine control pressed powder. I still use the proactive repairing lotion in moderation. Hope this helps.

you should try jojoba oil. It doesn't clog your pores. I usually put a drop or two of jojoba oil into my moisturiser and it has helped with my dry/oily/acne skin. I use Desert Essence moisturiser with their jojoba oil. But you can get any jojoba oil. I chose desert essence because their product is organic. Go to your local organic stores since they usually carry all kind of natural products.
