Some people mentioned BBQ - but that might not be feasible where you live. What about a bowling party, go horse racing and book into the VIP section, go to a sports game, or rent a yacht; there are loads of places to go and things to do that don't involve booze and vol-e-vonts, it really depends on what type of climate you live in and what time of the year it is. I must say though i have been to several christenings and the only thing enjoyable is stuffing your face and getting pissed!!!!

you don't want to do a bar or club thing, it would be nicer to have a reception after the ceremony. If it is done in the morning you could have a breakfeast theme or if it is later, a brunch. If it is in the afternoon you might consider a barbecue weather permitting.

If you can afford it, a nice open house with tea, sandwiches, cakes, etc. Or a buffett type meal.

Good on you lot for not doing the bar and bladdered thing!

A small greeting reception, right after the ceremony at the church where the baby is getting christened. You would have light refreshments, including cake, danishes, juice and spring water.

Well, for my family, all we did was have a small get together afterwards. The godparents would come over, so would grandparents. And invite some closer relitives over (my mom is closer to some of her siblings than others).....

then we just have a meal, cake, and just talk and celebrate.

A park (weather permitting) would be nice. If there are other children in the family, they can run around and play. Here's a website that has some ideas.
