Well, you will have to learn to live without a lot of things. Forget about tires on your car. The vulcanized rubber is made by burning bottom of the barrel crude to make carbon black which makes the tires strong. Guess you can forget about having toner in copy machines too. Plastics are made from petroleum products, so I guess we will have to cut down more trees to make containers. Basically, we will have to completely change our lifestyle to have no petroleum in our lives.

We will learn, adapt and evolve into a less primitive human tribe. Guns and other tools of war need oil, so I do not see that happening soon. The Amish had an inside information stream on this, kinda sad that we did not learn from them. Not the god part, that's religion, but the Good part, that is neat. If Good is God then I am a believer of Good.
For the past century we have relied on Petrol for some reason. Look around a room, notice all the petroleum products and or items that petroleum was used in or for the manufacturing of. It is rather staggering. Everything.
The PC, plastic keyboard, petrol, case, monitor chair, light, toys, games. Now look at the door, walls, ceiling, all were brought to the location using petrol.
The people that built the house, used petrol to come and go and used petrol to construct it.
The food in the petrol powered refrigerator , if you have Nuclear Power plant supplying power, why do they charge as much as a coal fired plant. petrol.
To build the nuclear reactor and then to cover it up when it is to old to be safe to use anymore, more petrol to haul the cement and fly the dignitaries in and out for photo ops. petrol
Think of Egypt, Elite class ruling a working class, that is what can happen. or not.
Maybe we can take the path of the Amish. not the God part, unless you choose that, and that is cool too.
Too many Humans to survive on food and water that does not use petrol to obtain, deliver and prepare.

For energy, we have wind, solar, wave, and geothermal energy to switch to. Not to mention nuclear and other exotic methods.
For chemical feedstocks, we have soy, corn, and prarie grass.
We'll do just fine once we convert over.
