I've already reached the daily limit for Tylenol of 8 capsules. Now what?

I have an appointment booked for 2 pm. They wouldn't send me to a dental surgeon until I see the dentist first.

I know what has caused it. I had a filling redone 10 months ago, and had the same pain, only not as bad as now. Some air mixed in with the filling and probably caused an infection. So the infection has returned. The dentist said this could happen. Meanwhile I was thinking I was home free, when it cleared up last April.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I had a root canal done on Tuesday. It cost $1300. That's just the beginning. I still nedd restorative treatment, crown etc. in about two weeks. Husband's insurance covers some of it-don't know how much yet. I am taking Ibuprofen, and it seems to be enough. It still feels really bad at times, and it's hard to chew even if I avoid the side of the root canal.

Get an appointment ASAP. The root canal will take care of all your problems. I've had three, and only needed something prescribed for pain after one of them. Everything else could easily be handled with over-the-counter stuff. GET THAT ROOT CANAL.! It's your best friend.

Like they said, dentist now!

I had an abscessed tooth, it sucked, worst pain ever. I made an emergency appointment...if your dentist is not available, they will have alternates that you can go to. If it's an abscess, they will give you antibiotics which will make the infection go away, but that will take a while so they'll give you something like Vicodin as well. The Vicodin or whatever will make the pain bearable, just bearable, not go away, and the antibiotic will make the pain stop eventually. Then you'll need whatever else.

This is excruciating...good use of the word...call someone now. Get someone to drive you if needed, the pain is blinding. Do not delay

Dentist and now! You may need an antibiotic. Sometimes an abscess tooth causes great pain too. Especially if the Tylenol is not taking the edge off of the pain. Call and make an appt today so that you don't have to suffer anymore. Toothaches are absolutely horrible. I feel for ya.

Take a prescription dose of ibuprofen or naproxen to get better pain control for now and then call your dentist to get something stronger than this. Request an emergency visit if needed just to get this checked out.

See the dentist. Get it done.

In the meantime, try Anbesol, which is a topical analgesic.
