I'm sorry I do not know the specifics of the South Beach Diet but I have been a dieter all my life. But I know you can't cut corners! I suggest doing everything and be sure to make a routine out of it. A dietitian, or nutritionist, or Ph D wouldn't include the 1st phase if it wasn't crucial to the whole process.

1st phase of any diet is ussually the most important one. This is where the pounds get shead off the fastest. After that your body get's used to the diet and doesn't work as fast.
I don't like most diet plans anyways, because they have you buy their products of medicine, supplements, or food. They don't work any faster and you just spend more money.
I lost 55 Lbs in two months 285 lbs down to 230, Eating what ever I wanted as much as I wanted. And yes that included Mc Donalds super size me meals, some times two meals at once.
Just some basic medical concepts of how metabolism and exercise plays a role in weight loss means alot. Knowing when to eat, how to eat, when to exercise, and what to do can do circles around any diet out there.

It is possibly but the diet is intended to be followed in phases to get maximum results. Your best bet is to follow it. The first phase only lasts 2 weeks and is meant to help curb cravings and flush out impurities. It is a diet that you must follow exactly or else it is useless.

For starters, I think you should ask yourself how badly you want to lose wait and how devoted you are, because you are already talking about skipping the first part??? i am not really good at answering diet questions, but on the other hand if you skip the first part and then you dedicate yourself to every single other part, and not forgetting about exercise, because people tend to think there is a magic way to lose weight, and you believe in your mind and heart, then yes, i think you will be fine. Think thin, motivation, and remember that it's all about having a strong healthy mind, think positive, and don't give up. Make it happen! Think thin; be thin.

maybe - but the one thing that phase 1 does is it ends your cravings for sweets and processed foods.
