In my opinion, not that im a sadist, i believe emotional pain is the strongest drive to motivate you to do and get anything you want. Not the self-inflicted type but of those type where you've seen or experience something which you feel powerless or in adept to change in your life/the world around you and you feel angry enough to want to do something really big to change that. You need something to believe strongly in,a cause or a situation and to start having faith; so start believing that you can be the one to have an impact on this world, the people around you, yourself in ANYTHING that you want to do.

For starters, you could get out of your comfort zone by voluntering or helping out in hospitals, community care and support groups for patients with disorders/illnesses, with disabled/unfortunate kids. Or work in something which you feel very strongly about- like are you an environmentalist?or aspiring politician who wants to do something about the state? Work closely towards your hearts' desire and that's another step to finding out your true calling.

Hopefully also by interacting with more people from different walks of life and having to offer them support and them relying on you might give you an idea of how you can do something and find your place in this complicated world. All the best and have fun!

You will only solve the problem temporarily if you are modifying your behavior because it will eventually result in a swing in the opposite direction. That is what happens with opposing forces. It goes deeper than what you do, its about why you do it or don't do it that is the core issue. So, getting at the bottom of your issues is going to have to be your first step. Having someone around to motivate you is pretty irrelavent although it can help to have someone there to remind you of your goals when you start to get lost. But you can't depend on it. Anyway, trying to get someone to do something is called "coercion". You need to be motivated from within from a sense of "inspiration" - moving towards a positive goal rather than trying to run from a negative one. You are probably a person that needs some structure in your life to start with. You need to have a fairly regular daily routine and stick to it. When you find yourself getting distracted then you know its time to get back on track.

You sound like your own worst enemy, you know you can do well but easily give up. Is there a reason why? Do you follow a similar pattern. Only you can change and we are our own motivators. No one motivates me because i have learned nothing works unless i do things for myself. Start keeping a diary, write down all your emotions, your goals, your achievements, EVERYTHING. I had life coaching and was told to try this. It works because i can look back and see how good something was or work out why i failed at something I could read it when i wanted to give up but see how great i felt. You can use the diary to see if there is a pattern to your behaviour. Good luck x

start with small goals and keep your goals in mind all the time.
YOu can motivate yourself by self affirmations. Write down positive statements and goals and post them around your room and on mirror.

Um... does this have anything to do with diet and fitness?

Well, you can recall that awesome feeling of success, and then motivate yourself so that you will feel it again
