As a keen food hygiene enthusiast, I know only too well the perils of leaving freshly sliced fruit on the bench. However, over the last few months I have been working tirelessly to come up with an answer. The following solution MUST be very carefully measured out and weighed if not certain death may arise.
Ingredients: One thin scraping of butter, 2 teaspoons of calpol, a squirt of lime juice, 10 grams of baking soda and a GIANT inflatable banana. Put the aforementioned fruit into the banana. Mix the other ingredients up for approximately 3 and a half minutes until a fine paste is achieved. Add the paste to the fruit in the banana. Leave for at least 10 minutes. The fruit is now ready to eat. And I have consumed kiwis up to 8 days after originally adding them to the banana. Although I imagine apples and pears would keep for up to 2 weeks. Bon appetit!

You can squeeze lemon or lime juice on it and then toss the fruit to make sure it is well covered with the juice. Then put it in a tightly sealed container.

Try adding an acid to stop the brown bits. Lemon juice is good. Or even orange.

Immediately after you've cut up the fruit, squeeze lemon juice over it, and keep in a covered container until you want it.

Sprinkle it with "Sure-gel". I use it. It's gelatin and it preserves your fruit. It's tasteless and harmless. Sold in all grocery stores where you find the jell-0. Also, lemon juice works well on everything but Apples.

You need to squeeze fresh lemon juice on it or some orange juice, that will keep it fresh!

You can use citric acid, it is flavourless and of course edible. It also works on avocado dip etc. You can also use it in othr ways such as mix with baking soda about half and half for indigestion. It is inexpensive, get it inn the health food store you can buy it in a jar or loose at the herb counter.

Aside of the lemon juice, try keeping it cover with transparent kitchen film wrapper, see if it works.
