Honestly the best way to fix it is to turn on the water and as he begins to drink from it, spray him with a watergun. It may take a couple of times but he won't want to chance getting soaked to get a drink. The other thing is that several pet supply stores have a water fountain dish that you could use as a replacement. Start it off in the bathroom then gradually move it to the location you want it at.

My cat does the exact same thing. I have heard that cats are real fussy about super fresh water. I change her bowl a couple of times a day, make it a smaller bowl, and still she will go to the tub, or drink out of the dogs' water. Go figure. Sometimes she drinks out of her bowl. I am looking forward to see if there are any good answers. Thanks for asking the question.

If you have a shower door, keep it closed, I think that's cute, I had a cat who loved to drink from the bathroom sink. I would turn it on for him. just a little, but it wasn't something he done all the time, only once in a while. Try putting his water dish in the tub & refuse to turn the tap on, but really I don't think that it is such a big problem, cats have a mind of their own it's hard to change their habits, Good luck.

we've a century old homestead without of date faucets in the tub - can no longer discover suited washers and the nice and cozy water faucet drips. The cats the two drink from that faucet on a primary foundation. And what the heck - this is clean water and this is sparkling. in simple terms permit the cat drink there. No injury performed.

My older cat does the same thing. She does this at the sink. Its not really a problem as long as you didnt just get done in the shower or didnt just clean it (shampoo and cleanersmight make the cat vomit). Try changing the water in the bowl once or twice during the day and throw an ice cube in. Makes it cold and gives a temporary toy for your cat.

My cat does the same thing. I simply deny him. I fill the bowl and he drinks when he gets really thirsty, and then immediately flips the bowl upside-down. Sometimes I'll turn the faucet on for him as a treat, but I don't want him to learn that if he goes to the tub/sink and whines I'll just turn it on for him.

Instead of a bowl try a crystal clear cup. Maybe an acrylic measuring cup or drinking glass about four to six inches high. I don't know why this works but it does.
No matter how he cries do not let him drink from the tub. Get a small water gun and keep it handy. If he starts begging, shoot him. That is not the response he is looking for. It should eliminate that behavior pretty quick.

Try leaving maybe 2 to3 inches of water in the tub, when you are not home.this will stop any drinking when you are not at home. Now when you are bathing you con do something like use some tipe of bath oil that the cat may not be so quick to drink more than once. Like say apple cats do not realy like apples exc.Do you see where we are goning with this ,if the cat dont like the tast of the water he will stop driking it.But we must make shore he or she has plenty of good water at the feeding spot they are youst to.Good luck please let us no if this works for you.

Many cats do this. He will drink out of his bowl when he is thirsty. Close the bathroom door.
