You can try going to the website of the Police Force you're interested in joining. There should be some information on what they're looking for, their recruitment process, as well as info on what the job really entails. There will also be a section for you to fill in in order to get an application form and the ball should start rolling from there!

WOW...Some of these people on here are real jerks. Being a police officer is a respectable job and people may not appreciate the officers until they need you and then may still not appreciate them. But First off you should start by doing a very in depth search of the PD you want to go into. Know absolutly everything there is to know about it. Make sure you are in good physical and mental condition as well. This I have found out can be a very stressful job dealing with CERTAIN people. You might want to do an internship or something at the department to make sure that is where and what you want to do. Then start by filling out the application and then it should go on from there. On the website of the PD you are looking at there should be a hiring procedure and follow that. They are very helpful. I am doing an internship right now and it has really opened my eyes to what these people do everyday. It is because of this that I want to become a police officer.

In my local force they are often not recruiting police officers but many people have joined as a member of police staff and then there are internal adverts for serving police staff to be invited to join. Working as police staff, for example in the control room or as a PCSO is very useful for when you do become an officer.
The police force is an extremely rewarding and varied career with a good pension at the end of it. There are many different areas you can go into (I know I've done lots of jobs in the police for the last 10 years and have enjoyed every one of them).
Please ignore jewsareracists. He clearly has an inferiority complex. The best bit of all is if you do come across someone like him he has probably done something you can arrest him for. And by the way, you'll be getting paid for him sitting in a cell for 8 hours stewing in his own stench. Ha ha ha!!!

I'll talk frankly. In the UK at present it depends on your colour, if your not white apply directly. No one likes to know this but hey you want in don't you? (I know military boys trained up to the nines who couldn't get in. That's like a Premiership player top of his game trying to get into a division 3 side. well Met anyway.) My mate went through the Specials then into the full fledged force that is a good option. Gives a taster. Like anything how much do you want it? Go into training & act like them, use every dirty trick in the book. he,he. Gd luck matey.

just care. then get some life experience and then join.
i am not speaking for all but most of the service don't care. i will give you an example.
off duty cop reports incidents in his local area to pcso's, he gives valuable intel to them but doesn't wish to give it himself because he is seen to be creating a ball of shite for some other desk bound intel layabout....the information is refused politely and because the pcso's are now afraid to do the job they are paid for also. the pcso's main role to collate intel and forge links with the public , which for all intents and puposes i do belive off duty cops still are.
example 2...off duty cops who act toi detain offenders against the peace are seen as jobs worth and usually slagged off, by the lazy bone idle cops, this causes problems for the off duty cop, because he is what the public want but the majority of cops are the lazy types, who then mix him a bottle...sound about right hey.
the police don't really want intelligence or information at the lower level, this is seen as extra work and is frowned upon.
my ideal police service would be full of proactive go get them and foock the consequences and pace and just remove the streets of the shite vermin hoody cheese smelling fucknotes that populate this once great and will be again when the bnp get in land

A good starting point would be to ask about being a volunteer community officer, this would get you 'foot in the door'

Well, to get you to a flying start, certainly in my force area, You need to be COLOURED or of an ETHNIC MINORITY or FEMALE. They are not recruiting White Males.
So, I guess if you are a Black Lesbian Muslim, you only need to present yourself at our local cop shop to get the job!!!
