Take her to the doctor. Sounds like it's infected. If so, they will give you a prescription antibiotic eye cream (erythromyacin). Don't wait. She's only a week old, and it may be painful/itchy for her.

She may have an infection, which case she will need to see a doctor. In the mean time, you can help by bathing your daughters eyes. Boil some water. Leave to cool til tepid.Wash your hands. Take some cotton wool moistened with water. Wipe your baby's eye from inner corner to outer corner,ONCE only. Discard the piece of cotton wool. Take another piece, and repeat with other eye. repeat. It is IMPORTANT you use ONE piece of cotton wool for each eye, each wipe,to lesson the spread of infection. This will not cure the problem, but will help to keep your baby's eyes more comfortable and reduce soreness.

It could be that her tearducts haven't fully opened. Three out of my four kids had that. You should take her to the doctor to make sure it is that and not conjuctivitis (which is different and will need medication) or allergies. If its her tearducts it can take what will seem a life time for you to open...best way to deal with lots of wiping her eyes with warm water the warm water helps them open up. Keep her out of the direct sun it seems to cause more of the green yellow stuff. Good Luck

She should be checked by her doctor. It could be as simple as a blocked tear duct, but since it is green it sounds like a eye infection.

You should take her to the doctor. Hopefully, it's a minor infection or something else that's not dangerous, but it's not worth taking chances with.
