my felmale cat has been in heat for two weeks now and my intact male has tried to mount her, but i have not seen him sucessfully mount her. they are both about a year old and this is her first heat. Also he is a little shorter than she is so when reaches for her neck he miss her vulva. any ideals..

I have already have some friends who said that if she became pregent that they would take one or two in. so . plus it is better to let them do this in my care than out in the wild.. at least the kittens will have a chance of finding homes.

you should call around to local vets & animal shelters. they often have spay & neuter clinics at low cost, or have money donated by people who feel strongly about altering cats that is available to people in your situation.
my vet gave me $100 of such money to get my cat neutered. and since neutering is less invasive it is less expensive. i suggest getting the male altered asap, if they are both indoor cats (that's what i did, my female isn't spayed but she doesn't go outside). if not, just get the female spayed. it's healthier for the cats and extends their lives dramatically (almost doubles a males life span!!)

If you're sure you want the responsibility of kittens, then I would just leave them alone, they'll figure it out. Be prepared to either keep the kittens and take good care of them or find them good homes.

If it was me, I would have them spayed and neutered.

Good luck!

Neuter your animals! If you cannot afford it than you should not have pets. Thanks to irresponsible owners like you...there are millions of healthy cats euthanized on a daily basis. Give them to the humane society so they can place them in good homes.

Ah, they are just young and inexperienced. Let them practice. If they do it right good for them. If not, there will be another heat. After all, practice makes perfect!

leave them alone they'll figure it out. Cats like to mate in privacy.
