I have been having panic attacks since I was 14. I suffer from a panic disorder and I have been on meds for the last 15 years. I am 39 now.

At first I thought I was going to die. It took me years to understand what was going on. I tried to hide it from my mother and teachers. Then I tried to hide it from my bosses and husband.

Your dad is doing the right thing he is taking you in to seek help. And good for you to tell him what is going on inside. Many teens do not.

Right now I am on a med call Lexipro. it takes them away I can sleep better. And it does not make me tired or feel funny.
I have also learned how to relax my body in counseling, that took some time.

Hang in there I swear it is going to be allright soon.

Have you had these type of experiences before? If not, then I think you are scared about the Atrial Fibrillation, and that is causing the panic attack(s).

You have a right to be worried, but you should see/talk to someone NOW to help you work through this until your doctor appointment. The waiting and not knowing is the hardest part. Is there someone you can call and talk to or go and see? Like your mom or dad, a school counselor (I know you are home now) or a help line?

Yes, AF is serious, but realize that strokes happen when someone has had AF for more than 1 or 2 years UNTREATED, and that is usually in an older person (over 65).

I am no doctor, but since you have it so young you may have a thyroid issue which is causing the AF. The thyroid is relatively easy to fix and once it is fixed the AF would go away.

Please email me if that will help any. Take care - I know the doctors will get you better.

I am so happy, it was only a 35 minute drive ( 70 minutes total) but absolutely no sign of anxiety or panic i shopped till I dropped - brilliant! I will now go for the next stage DUAL CARRIAGE way, probably at the weekend, with my husband accompanying me first then the solo drive, if successful the final stage of driving on motorway

I had my first panic attack in 7th grade - I'm 37 now. I know its hard to believe but you are making yourself have an attack. You and your dad go online to www.attackinganxiety and look at Lucinda Bassett's program. Its a great investment - It teaches you skills to relax and skills to avoid having an attack. I have used it for years. It has a relaxation CD in it that I still use before bed
