The Brussels sprout (Brassica oleracea Gemmifera Group) is a cultivar group of Wild Cabbage cultivated for its small (typically 2.5-4 cm diameter) leafy green heads, which resemble miniature cabbages. The name stems from the original place of cultivation, not because of the vegetable's popularity in Brussels.

No, they are brassicas but different species. Cabbage only has one head (cabbage plant) per stalk and grow closer to the ground. Brussels sprouts are multi headed growing up a tall stalk.

No.

Cabbages grow on the ground and are a whole plant. Sprouts are little buds that grow on a stalk. Though they are both part of the brassica family and good for induding farts.
