because i think if you leave just the little drips that dont come out when emptying tht is why it is getting the funny taste from the little bit of water evaporating so do you leave half full possibly?

If I am going to be using the pot again within a few hours, I may leave the water in, after all, it's already been boiled and will be boiled again before I use it. If I don't plan on using it any time soon, I rinse it out, then put it upside down in the dish drainer. If yours is giving a funny taste, it may be time for a new tea pot.

I wouldn't leave water in it. Actually, I make my water for tea in an electric coffee pot that has never been used for coffee. (If it is used for coffee, it will make the tea taste a little like coffee.) If I don't use all the water that day, I run it through the next day. It usually get used up the second day. However, I used bottled water.

If your pot has a funny taste, then clean it with apple cider vinegar. Just steam with water and a capfull of vinegar to clear all funny tastes. Rinse out several times and you are good to go. It doesnt matter if you leave water in there and pour out the next day and refill. Water doesnt make your pot go bad in a day. But, it is time for a cleaning.
