I doubt he is sick. It is normal for smaller animals to have a higher respiration rate. Cats sleep a lot any way. Since he is very active and playful he is probably fine. Take him to a vet if you are worried.

Young kittens do breathe very rapidly. There's a very good chance that it is just fine if it is eating well and acting like it feels fine when it is awake. Have a vet. take a look at him or her just to be sure. Kittens this young sleep most of the time. They are growing and like babies, they need to sleep more than they play when they are this young. Hold it while it is sleeping and it will bond with you even though it is sleeping. Good Luck and enjoy your kitten.

Hes fine. Cats breathe somewhat quickly and they sleep a lot when theyre young. And they should be active when awake for a few months to a year. He sounds like hes pretty healthy.

Is the 45 times a minute a resting respiration rate? That is, while he's quiet and relaxed? If so, it IS an elevated rate. How is his appetite? You should make an appontment with a vet regardless - he needs his first checkup and vaccines, etc, even if he's perfectly healthy.
