Good question. How can you be sure that it is God and not some demon or even Satan himself?
Hmmmmm..................................

There is no way not to know that you are talking to God. And the words He speaks you will never forget. The Holy Spirit is the teacher and the comforter and His words will always put you at peace. He can also make you get a love or yearning for God's word, the Holy Bible, like you have never had before. Two voices and the one you will never forget could be God or His mighty angel which is the same - a messenger from God. In my lifetime I have heard the audible voice of God only twice. The soft quiet voice of the Holy Spirit many times to guide me.
The Bible tells us to try the spirits. If from God they will be a help and not for harm. If from Satan they will be confusing, harmful and evil. Even to the point of instructing harm on someone else.
The voices from God are peaceful and commanding. For example - make this, do this, go here, help them, move over, stop now.
Also God speaks in dreams and visions and through other people. If you have a recurring dream, jot it down. If you have an unusual dream jot it down. If you have a dream that someone could be in harms way or hurting, immediately get up and pray for that person. Immediately, don't wait until morning. A vision is definitely when you are shown the future. Put it down on paper so you can go over it. Always date dreams and visions so you can see the time scale of when they occur. Any time you wake up between 3:00 a.m. and your normal wake up time, get up and pray and read God's word. Many times in Jeremiah, God said that he awakened Israel early in the morning "rising up early and speaking, but they would not obey His voice." Sometimes you can just be still and wait for the Lord to speak. The Bible says,
"Be still and know that I am God."

What you are impressed in response to your sincere requests of God will be according to the principles set forth in God's word, the Bible. If you are impressed to go against the teaching in the Bible the impression is not from God and your dialogue will not be with God.

If you address him as god in your prayer time then your'e talking to him. All you need is to acknowledge him in your heart, if you do, then when you speak to him, he listens. Believe me you will know!!!

Persistence in prayer brings internal peace.
If you don't get the quieting feeling, change your lifestyle to become one of his children.
He listens to us and frequently answers our prayers.
