I wonder why the idea that Jesus married and had a family while on earth is so upsetting to some people. Jesus was flesh and blood while he was on earth, he was a man. And, although he was about a certain purpose in this world, why is not acceptable that he had the same kind of life that other men had in the process? I am a Christian and I am not offended by this idea. Why does this upset people?

Because they were taught that Jesus was celibate, and if the idea that he wasnt married was changed, what else about Jesus isnt true then? People dont like new ideas brought into thier religious beliefs.

I believe that for Catholics that makes Jesus too common.

It's all about keeping the power w/ the men and the introduction of a woman being involved adds a weakness. Look at the priests - why can't they be married and deliver the message of the Lord? It was designed to keep the assets in the hands of the church and that could be threatened if the heirs to the priest demanded payment or property.

I am a catholic and I to am not offended by the fact that Jesus might have been married and had a family, what is important here is that we remember what his teachings gave us, he had wisdom beyond our comprehension, he has given us a clear path to our creator that most of us call God, it is the spirit of Jesus that sits next to the father, not a physical man, and none of this will change my beliefs in him.

His mission was too important to be sidetracked by a wife and child. He would not have allowed that distraction. Knowing that His life was to end violently and early He would not have committed to a wife. A wife and child would have made it even more difficult to carry out His mission successfully. He could not have created a child that would have His genetic material, because it was unigue and not to be passed on to become mired in this sinful world. This whole line of thinking about a wife and child for Jesus is illlogical and might lead to subtracting from who Jesus was and why He was here. It will lead people astray. Jesus' bride is the one true remnant church of His followers, He could not have been committed to one women and one child. We are all His children. We are all His brothers and sisters.

Change is not easy. This would require a big change in the history of Christianity, though I doubt it will have any lasting impacts.

As for sunpeke - perhaps explaining to this questioner how the Bible would answer her question would be more beneficial. I believe that is the point of the question. She does not know and would like someone to explain it to her.

because most of Christians believe that Jesus is a god,and not a human,so if he would married and have children co he wouldn't be a god he would be man,and this will collapse all Christianity concepts

As I understand it, one of the prerequisites for attaining the position in his religious sect that he held was marriage, and therefore the probability of his being married was quite high.

Maybe because people spend time on foolish questions instead of studying his words. If he owned a used car dealership has nothing to do with what he had to say.

At least he married a woman. Can you imagine the controversy over the other possibility?
