I'm even asking this of myself. I think that there are many times, particularly in matters of faith and politics, the more I or someone else displays anger, especially vindictive anger, the more doubt I or they possess. Thoughts? Thanks all.

When people get angry when arguing a position it is to mask there inability to have complete confidence in their position. One one starts to internally question his or her own beliefs they often mask that in anger and aggression toward others.

I've seen it so many times in myself and other throughout the years. However, it is very possible for one to study hard and become supremely confident in their position.

I rarely get angry or upset when discussing any topic anymore.

I'm not sure about doubt necessarily, but anger (especially vindictive anger) seems more apparent when the ego is in greater control. I think after diving into spiritual practices, you lose touch with your ego, things don't affect you as greatly because it is not perceived as a direct attack on the ego, and consequently you don't get as upset.

The only way I can see doubt fueling anger is as a defense mechanism. Doubt can be misconstrued as weakness, so if someone gets angry enough about a certain topic, it may lend themselves a false sense of credibility in the eyes of others.

Anger can be viewed as an expression of insecurity, lack of confidence in oneself and a way to avoid the issue. Anger can also be viewed as a necessity and motivator for change to occur. Two types of anger - one is cowardly using anger to avoid issues - the other is confident using anger as motivation to confront issues.

In matters regarding faith, people DO tend to become angrier when they do not have an adequate response to a (civilly asked) question. For example, I cannot see why people would become angry and resort to using childish insults when discussing evolution, and yet I see Christians get all riled up everytime they try to dispute evidence someone has provided (especially if it's a LOT of supportive evidence all at once.)

Those who do not get angry tend to put their fingers in their ears saying "Lalalala" and usually end up quoting scripture or something instead of giving a sensical response.

I suppose it depends on the person and what they're angry about. When people become angry over an attack on Jesus, or vulgar language used to describe Him, I don't think that's the case.

Think about someone using that language to talk about your mother. I don't think your anger would mean you doubt her existence, do you? Peace.
