no you can't, the UV rays that tan your skin cannot travel through the glass, think of when you are driving a car if you have your windows up on a sunny day you don't get a tan, but if your windows are down whenever the sun hits you get tanned.

yes you can. Ever see a truckdriver who with tanned arms. I always get tanned on the side that faces the window in the summer.

I think you can unless the glass has heavy UV shields in it which many do. If its just standard residential plate glass it does not block much so you can. I stayed at a hotel in Michigan once that had a solarium where you could take sun while still being warm in the winter time. so I think you can.
