I'd have to say 99% of the time - it's a knack. The other 1%, people fall at my feet and worship the ground that I walk on.

Yes I have. I watch a lot of movies and am always quoting lines from them. I was at a party and the room was crowded. Suddenly I decided to quote a line from the movie, "Postcards from the Edge". So I yelled out, "Any more people in here and we'll need a lubricant !". The entire room froze. No one laughed. I got some dirty looks. Looking back, I was as welcome as Jade Goody in a Indian restaurant.

No, fortunately not. On the other hand, I am decent to all people, not a racist, and know if I were not favoured by people to stay away lest something be put in my food.

No. Fortunately I was brought up better than to behave as badly as her, be it in public or private.

To be honest - 'no' - now that I come to think of it they seem to be more polite than a lot of cafe's (up-market) ones at that - on which I have visited. They seem to welcome their guest well in my opinion.
