During the past 6 months or so I have had two or three dreams (that I can remember) that involved tornadoes, and the last two also involved my family. What are some reasons for this occurring?

Threatening influences pushing you toward things you might be afraid of. Pressure in some form. Tremendous mental or emotional energy release, feeling as if it might overwhelm

I used to have these dreams when I was in high school - and I've never seen or experienced a tornado in real life.

From what I was able to gather just by doing a search on Google, it looks like tornados in dreams can represent a fear of separation from your family. Or, because they're often sudden and violent, then they can represent someone you know with a personality that can be moody or uncontrollable - or simply a fear of the unpredicatble.

I think you have to assess what you're going through now in your life. Have you been thinking about the future a lot? It makes sense that I had these dreams in high school because that's all they prepare you for there - college, separation from your parents, what your career will be. And my dreams of tornadoes stopped after I graduated.

But sometimes it can be the past coming back. Was there something in your life that set off a "tornado" around you? An incident that changed everything in your life that maybe you haven't fully dealt with?

I'm not a professional, but it's probably good to ask yourself these questions anyway, just to find out more about yourself and how you react to the world around you.

Possibly because you had heard about them in the news? You are worried that you family may be in peril? I used to frequently dream about tornadoes as a kid after I saw one coming towards our house. It flew up and over right before it got to us. I was 8 and have NOT been fond of storms since then. I used to dream about pastel orange and gold tornadoes (like sunset colors). Still frightening!

I think sometimes dreams are just a reflection of stuff we have heard about and witnessed and don't have any more meaning that that. I am NOT an expert, though. Usually I can trace why I have dreamed about stuff if I think about it.
