I've just obtained my UK Working Holidaymaker Visa. But it says 'No Work or Recourse to public funds. Duration 180 days' Does this mean I cannot work for 180 days? I asked for an explanation at the UK High Commission but she told me that's how long my visa is valid for, although the visa has the validity of two years so I am confused. Can anyone help me//? Thanks

As far as I remember, the 180 days refers to the deadline for your entering the UK. So, for example, it your visa was granted on 1 Jan 2007, it is only valid for 180 days and therefore you wodul have to make sure you entered the UK by roughly the end of June 2007. If you are not in the UK by then, the visa lapses and you can't apply for it again. Once you have successfully entered the UK, you have 2 years from the date of entry to enjoy your visa and can come and go pretty much as you please.

Once here you can only work full-time for twelve of the 24 months - the other time is meant to be spent holidaymaking!

Refer to the below web page. As a working holiday maker you are not supposed to spend more than 12 months of your 2 years in employment. you can not claim any benefits either. Not sure about the 180 days thing, have never heard of that.
