Interview the interpreter on the skills that she/ he has besides translating (medical, legal, technical aspects). Request for references.

Interpreting is a skill, those that have been doing it longer are usually more effective.

what type of interpreter?????? Deaf interpreter, spanish terp, etc??

Where are you traveling from/to and for what reason (i.e. business, personal, etc) would you need a terp?
