Will there ever be another update for DirectX 9?

Question

We now know that Windows XP dosen't support DirectX 10/Direct3D 10. But doese anyone know will there be another update for DirectX 9?

It does appear that there may be one more update to DirectX 9, after "c", code named "DirectX 9.0 L", but this would work only on Vista. This version would allow Direct X 9 specific games to run smoothly on Vista.
