I think organized religion, is a way for people to give meaning to their lives. If no one thought there was a higher power, then what would be the reason to live a moral, decent life? What's the point of respecting one's neighbor and property?
I feel that most people that worship God are scared of burning in hell for eternity, so they go to church and worship.
I think Christianity was a political move, by leaders long ago, to control people into obedience, as well as fighting in major battles, all for the sake of "God"

Worshipping God is showing your respect for the life he has given you, it has nothing to do with benefit, to love and worship God one must love him/herself first, if you do not love yourself then you love nothing, because you become void of compassion, and forgiveness.

Both. God wants you to worship Him, and worshipping Him brings you that much closer to salvation.

The object is just that:
Worshiping the Creator....because He told us to do so.
And we do so not just out of obedience, but out of thankfulness and praise for what He did for us on the cross.

i dont worship god... i just think there is one there
i dont see a need to... because i dont think god really cares about it. i dont think any god who demands worship, really deserves it.
i think god would want us to do better things with our time.... like helping one another.
i do pray.. and i do feel appreciation for what i have... but thats pretty much it.
