DONT BUY ONE!! ADOPT ONE.
Go to the local shelter, or Cats protection, they have lots of cats, young and older looking for good homes.

If you ring up your local cat rehoming they might even have kittens there and then your donation goes towards help cats, which would be a lot better.
I know what you mean you want a kitten and not a cat as you want to grow with your kitten and build that bond. Good luck i hope you find the perfect kitten to adop or buy. You could also look in the local newpaper.
good luck

Speak to the different organisations, they will put you on a waiting list.
You could also try farms - they tend to have a lot of kittens from the farm cats.
Kitten season is usually around June to September as most people won't rehome a kitten until 6-8 weeks (if you're getting one and have the choice ask for it to stay with mum up to 8 weeks minimum).

I would suggest trying the Cats Protection League but you might also want to check out the adverts people put in the windows of the local Vets. Quite often folks can not get good homes for kittens, resulting in owners resorting to drastic measures.
The CPL generally ask for a donation to cover the care that their animals receive (de-fleaing etc) whilst with the CPL.

Just go to a shelter or rescue organization - they always have more kittens than they can place, and tabbies are plentiful. :)
You will have to pay an adoption fee, but that already covers a lot of vet cost - shots, maybe neuter, etc. - so it's really a goo "deal".
By adopting form a shelter or rescue organization, you can save a two lives: the one of the cat you adopt, and the one that gets the shelter place freed up by your adoption. :)
Here is the URL of one such organization near you:
http://www.leicesteranimalaid.org.uk/
They have only dogs for adoption on the homepage, but the text says they have plenty of cats, too.

Go to a rescue centre, they are overflowing with kittens from March onwards. You will have to prove you can give it a good home and pay a donation. Kittens are being born about now, you may have to wait for the right one to be ols enough to leave it's mother.

You could also try www.kittenlist.co.uk and search in your area, or you can also place an advert there for free so that people who have kittens can contact you.

Try ringing the nearest branch of the "R.S.P.C.A.", or, the "CAT'S PROTECTION LEAGUE". They are, ALWAYS desperate, for help, - and, always, on the look-out, for LOVING homes! If you are having ONE cat, though, have you thought of the possibility of having TWO, - from the SAME LITTER, - for COMPANY? I had two DOGS, myself, - but, I should think, that it's similar, with cats! Good luck!
