It is also an event that allows the bride and groom to get away from all daily distractions and focus on each other only.

I see honeymoons as a nice and more importantly relaxing time for a newly married couple. Think about it in terms of this:for the length of your engagement most couples have been stressed about money, time, futures, etc, all the things that go along with wedding planning and planning for the rest of their lives together. The stress only becomes greater as the wedding day approaches as do the arguments and petty disagreements. A honeymoon is a time after the wedding to really reconnect and enjoy each other's company and kind of redisocver why you wanted to get married in the first place. If you decide against the honeymoon away and opt to stay at home I think you really arent relaxing, you will do chores, run errands, basically get right into your new "titles" of husband and wife and you will miss out on being "honeymooners". I think every couple deserves some time to come down after a wedding and to be alone where you just enjoy each other and the memory of your wedding.

That's not necessarily true. I doubt when we get married next year that it will be an all-out sex-fest. We enjoy travelling, and my fiancee has his own business which keeps him at work at least 12 hours a day, almost every day. The honeymoon is a chance for us to be alone together, without the disruptions of the business. It is also nice for the new couple to get away after the stress of the wedding planning and day itself to spend time just the 2 of you.

The honeymoon originated from an ancient practice where newly wedded couples drank mead (a wine made from fermented honey) for an entire month after the wedding in order to increase their fertility (hence: honey moon).
Moden tradition stems from this and those exotic, expensive trips you mention probably have a lot more to do with the million dollar wedding industry.
Personally I think a honeymoon is a nice tradition. Planning a wedding is stressful, what better time to take a little vacation, and who better to take it with? :)

we are romantic by nature we go in a honeymoon in a romantic place and sex is a big part of it but the memories lingers
if sex is the most important in our life and not marriage why get married why spends all that money in our wedding day
why not just get a partner and have sex in street in the park or any corners at least you will not spend any money
we got married because it is one of the most important part of adulthood and we like good memories and honeymoon is the best romantic time of your marriage

I completely agree with you man. Why wasting so much money when u can just have sex at home. Believe me, if there is true love, honeymoon can be anywhere and everywhere. I think its too overrated by tourism people who just want to make money on the cost of fooling people in love. So people, next time dont go to Switzerland just for the sake of honeymoon, when u r there, explore the place n have fun. Do more outdoor activities together and make the most out of your money instead of just laying in bed.

It's not just to have sex. You can do that anytime and just about anyplace. A honeymoon is a chance for you and your husband to focus on one another entirely. No work, no phone, no stress, just you and him. Historically, I'm not sure why, but that seems to be the traditional reason for them.

Its about getting away from it all, and starting a new milestone with your husband/wife. Getting pampered at an all-inclusive resort and not having a care in the world.
