There are fewer viruses that attack Windows 98, but that does not mean that you should miss out on the Windows XP technology.

When Windows 98 came out, it seemed like it had many advantages and corrections that Windows 95 had problems with. But soon, Windows 98 appeared to have problems too. I would say that Windows 98 Second Edition was the best Windows software EVER to roll out of Microsoft.

When Windows 2000 came out, it seemed like it has many of the advantages and corrections that Windows NT had problems with. But soon, Windows 2000 appeared to have problems too. But with SP4 installed, Windows 2000 is AWESOME. It has earned it's place as "The Best".

In time, Windows XP will prove to be great.... but not yet.

Right now, my plan is to Test Drive Windows Vista in 2008 at some point. I know that many computers with only 512MB are being sold with it pre-installed, and these computers are DOG SLOW. Right now, my recommendation is to GET MORE RAM for these computers. I would suspect that 4GB of RAM is needed and here's why.

When Windows XP came out in 2002, many of these computers had only 128MB in it, with Windows XP pre-installed. At some point later, it seemed that 256MB of RAM helped. But now, I would say that 512MB is the minimum amount of RAM needed, now that Windows XP is fairly mature. So that's TIMES 4. If you have Windows Vista, it will probably work OK with 2GB of RAM, but you might as well JUMP to the maximum that the motherboard can take, so GO WITH 4GB.

Here were the OK versions of Microsoft operating systems:
MS-DOS 3 and MS-DOS 3.1
MS-DOS 5
MS-DOS 6.2 - the final version

Windows 3.1 & Windows 3.1.1

Windows 95
Windows 98SE
Windows 2000
Windows XP with SP2

Clearly, ever other release STINKS. That means that Windows Vista stinks, simply based on the Pattern.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

It is said that Windows 2000 was the best OS released by MS ever.
It has been hit by the least no. of viruses. XP tried to be a complete copy of 2000 functionally, just with a pepped up look.

I'm told Vista is a noce have, not a must have. Its looks are stolen from Apple's iMac and qill soon be vulnerable to viruses. Soon, there'll be a time when we'll all go source code. I'm a huge .Net buff and swear by Windows, but I don't agree with their licensing and pricing concepts.

Windows 98 was a joke! XP is a million times better than that joke of a operating system, damn blue screens every 10 minutes and it just reeks of oldness in a bad way. So to recap, XP is WAY bettern windoze 98.

Vista, or it soon will be.

The most revolutionary was Windows 3.1. This is when people switched from dos to Windows and Office. The Microsoft Office versions since have only had only minor changes.

No Elric yet I did threaten to record one to the police! He grow to be cleansing next doors abode windows and grow to be using my roof to tug his ladder over to get to the back. I warned him and he did it back so I threatened to call the police - that did the trick! He might have broken my roof tiles.
