Pastor Billy says: read Deuteronomy and discover the Jewish lead inquisitions.

Contrary to popular demand, Protestants, Jewish and Muslim were not persecuted on mass during the inquisition most often referred to.

1. No inquisition was held in any Protestant land lead by a Catholic authority however there were many Protestant inquisitions lead by Protestants.
2. The Spanish inquisition centred on 'conversos' Catholics, persons who had converted to the faith.
3. Enquires dealt with heretics from within the Catholic faith.
4. The civil authority in Spain had only recently reconquered the Iberian Peninsula from the Muslims, a reunified Spain was always fearful of falling back into division. Therefore the most drastic inconvenience to the Muslims and Jews of the region was the request to convert or emigrate out of the region hence the large exodus of Muslims to North Africa and wandering of Jews elsewhere. If you trace the exodus of Jews across European you begin to discover how many German, Polish and Russian Jews started off in Spain. Compensation? For what? Why is it always about gain?

First of all, you are going back further in history. It is generally accepted that the further back you go, the more you can blame on ignorance and beliefs that you nor your country should not be held accountable for as the Church was the main force of the entire region rather than a bordered country government. Once you can blame the event on a governing force other than the one you elected, then there becomes less responsibility to make amends for ill treatment...especially such that goes so far back. The Spanish Inquisition was one that was known for it's efforts more to genocide than to the protection of a religious belief. Therefore the second problem is that not just the Jews, but the Romanians, Turkish and many other human groups and beliefs were persecuted in order to keep Spain from becoming a hub of commerce and free belief (which history was cruelly and quickly showing the Church that this trend would end up in lower attendance, less community church influence and worse, less giving of money and buying of the spiritual penance' etc.) If this trend was not stopped, the Church would cease to rule the continent. So simply, when no one claims responsibility for a wrong, no one wants to be the one to admit a wrong done or the responsibility to make amends.

And how were the Jews compensated by Germany?

The persecution in Spain of those who were not Catholic was not even conducted by the Catholic church. It began by Ferdinand and Isabella's first General-Inquisitor, Tomás de Torquemada.

This is not to apologize for the Spanish Inquisition, but how would you prove who was damaged during these 350 years, and who should pay?

Why would this generation pay for the reparations of events that happened 150-500 years ago.

Lately 'the truth' is what the media pounds repeatedly into the masses heads and tells them what to believe.
It used to be based on various texts from various sources and if you are the type that would believe the media over scholars then you really have no idea what Truth really is.. and it is out there but rarely on TV shows
think it went out of hand, yes, but I don't think it was the bloodbath that everyone thinks it was. What people don't know is that the Spanish Inquisition (one of four Inquisitions in history) was NOT started by the authority of the Catholic church. IT was started by the king and queen of Spain for their own purposes. When the Vatican got wind of what was going on and the abuse of power, they pulled the plug.

I'm not sure if they targetted Jews in particular, but they did torture and kill people who they thought did things contrary to the Catholic Church. A lot of them were probably Jews.

There are all kinds of injustice in the world, and it's started by ignorant people of all races and religions.

But I will say that the Allied Powers of WW II made a huge mistake in not allowing the Palestinians to have their own state. It's one of the main causes of problems in the world to this day. Forcing a group of people into a state of obvious inequality guarantees a violent reaction. Pushing people around just makes them want to push back; I wish the human race could evolve past that point.

Your question is a bit off the mark regarding the Spanish Inquisition, though Jews and Islamic Moors ultimately suffered under the centuries-old persecution campaign.

That said, I have always wondered something similar to your question: How can anyone justify murder in the name of God when God expressly forbids murder?

In effect, the (re)creation of the state of Israel served as compensation for Jews after World War II -- I *think.* (Others may argue this point...)

I am going to look into this more , but from what I have read the Jews were expelled from Spain for collaborating with the Arabs , they were not torched as in Germany! Wher did u get this information? The world is as it always has been , compensation then must be to all Hispanics in the new world for the United States taking and destroying our countries! And who will compensate the Palestinians who have been expelled from their homeland ? It is an unjust war in the middle East! AS I understand it the Jews in Israel are mostly of European ancestry , this is the reason for such hated feelings against the Psalestinians who are closely related to the real Jews, the ones who have little or no European line! I believe all of us in this planet can live together in harmony if we can understand that we are all of one root line! Saludos.

It's so long ago, and since no one is going around with a particular grudge, let's not open up old wounds. Besides that, the Spaniards will not go along with such a preposterous ordeal or restitution for something so long ago, and by a different bunch. No one living was involved in the inquisition.

it form of feels you formulated on your head that if Jesus exists He could do something and each little thing to maintain human beings, fantastically Jews. then you ask this question thinking that when you consider that Jesus did no longer keep the Jews as you concept He could or could desire to, consequently His existence is questionable. the huge flaw on your thinking is thinking that Jesus will keep absolutely everyone as though he's under some criminal accountability to. Jesus in no way made such supplies for this reason there is not any room to question why He would not do something He in no way mentioned He could do first of all.
