I just moved into a new flat, and when I search for channels, nothing comes up, what can I do?

Assume that you know how to tune the set and have tried the obvious things like plugging in the aerial (amazing how many people can't spell that word) and checking that the aerial plug is ok. Also I assume that you have asked if the neighbours have a good picture or not. If you haven't done that then do so.

It's possible that your flat has a communal aerial and the lead from your place goes up to a distribution amplifier somewhere in the building. Ask whoever represents the landlord for maintenance to check that all is well at the distribution point.

Check your telly by VERY CAREFULLY pushing a wire (about 1 metre long and have it switched off when you do it) into the centre part of the aerial socket and seeing if you can any semblance of a picture. If you can then buy a decent indoor set-top aerial (cost about £8, don't buy the cheapest) to keep you going until the main aerial is fixed.

You need to check your aerial connection and if it actually has an aerial on the end of it.

You could try a set top aerial if you are in a good reception area.

If all it's getting is a snowy picture, you need some kind of antenna or cable hookup.

If it's just getting a blank, dark screen, you probably have selected an auxilliary input
