Do yourself a big favor and get to the root of the cause. Usually, the number one reason for insomnia is depression. If you think you are under stress and depressed, get some help. Talk to someone.

Ive dealt with insomnia several times before. Honestly the best thing I have come across is going to see a doctor and getting perscribed ambien. If i was having a problem with insomnia all i would have to do is take one ambien and it worked like magic and i slept good for weeks after that. There is also herbal sleeping pills you can take but I recommend ambien.
