my friend has these flashes of light that pass before her eyes. She has been to several eye doctors to try and find out what causes them. She calls them orbs of light. There are no headaches or such when this happens. It just disturbs her sight. Has anyone had a similar experience, or know what causes these?

Sometimes it is stuff floating in the vitreous gel in the back of the eye. and when floating into the visual axis, it disturbs the vision. Sometimes it is normal, but it can be as a result of something else, She should go see an ophthalmologist. A doctor specialising in eye care and eye surgery. It is called floaters, and you can go read up on it on the internet. Hope you find the source, because it can be serious. IThe flashes of light can also be because of imperfections in the retina of the eye, such as retinal detachment. But an ophthalmologist will be able to tell you.

She should make the next step and see a neurologist. They can do more testing and they will look for more reasons why this could be happening. She may need some scans done on her brain. Could be nothing, but I would go if it were me.

She should be talking with a Neurologist. This can indicated abnormal blood flow/pressure in the back of the brain. A CAT scan could spot this,,Good Luck! :-)=
