Our opinions about ourselves, other people and the world are often based on our childhood and experiences as a child.

What it sound like to me is that you have 'learnt' (You think) people are instantly going to be against you.

For example, my mum experienced domestic violence when i was a child which i witnessed...for a long time (and sometimes still do) i perceived men as people who hurt women, and expected men i met to hurt me in some way.

This is exactly what you are experiencing. I think that maybe some counselling will help, as a therapist will help you understand WHY you feel the way you do, and help you overcome these false beliefs.

Good Luck, you WILL get throught this.

It sounds like your mom must have reinforced the negative opinions of your dad by not speaking up or by transmitting the feeling that she agreed with him. Usually things one parent does or does not do cannot affect you this badly unless you feel everyone is supporting him/her and not you. Most people are advised to sit down and write them a long letter explaining everything about what they did and how it hurt you. You put everything in and hold nothing back. Then you wait a week and read it again and tear it up. As you tear the letter or letters up, you forgive them for what they did and vow to move on with your life. You won't ever forget what was done but you can vow to forgive and never let it affect you again. It is best to do this with a counselor with whom you can discuss the letter before you destroy it so that it had been validated by another person. Also, you should probably take medication and continue counseling as hurts of this magnitude have affected every other portion of your life.

Me too,i always feel i am on my own and have to deal with everything myself, don't know why.I wouldn't say people were deliberately against me or went out of their way to be,maybe we're just super sensitive.
