What's wrong with my Paintshop Pro 7 program?

Usually when I select the Freehand button and trace around the picture to cut it, it would make a dotted border around the part that I traced aroun the picture. But now, everytime I trace it and double click on it, it would load for awhile then the dotted border goes aroud the entire picture. What am I doing wrong? I use the point to point selection

You need to use the "Crop" selection not the freehand. If you use freehand you have to use the menu, "edit", "cut" doing that will REMOVE what your traced. If you want to crop it use the menu again and select "image", then "crop to selection".
