panic attack are a result of an adrenal dump. that is a large amount of adrenalin is released into the body and, the symptoms are shaking, jelly legs, butterflies, breathing problems and in extreme cases tunnel vision. to cure you have to take small steps, when you feel it coming on its not fear your feeling its the adrenalin so stay there as long as you can (fight or flight) and when you cant stick any longer go somewhere where you feel safe and try again. the more you try the more familiar it will become, but keep on trying its the only way forward.good luck.

View: http://www.relax7.com/7.php and there is a section on breathing techniques for panic attacks in the last blog of Shan Eris at: www.myspace.com (read all 6); choose a relaxation method that appeals and get your sister to join you for 20 mins, minimum, on a daily basis, which she should keep up, and use the controlled breathing and repeat her chosen word or phrase next time she feels an attack start. Also see: http://www.help-for.com/menu2.htm and enter "panic attacks" and on the myspace homepage.

The cure is inside her head. It can be tweaked or understood better by something like cognative behavioural therapy, or a good self help book , but she probably does not have a lot of confidence or self belief, even though she may be a wondeful girl. An honest but not too symapthetic friend may help also.

Make her drink 3 cups of nettle tea a day. The nettle has something in it (can't remember exactly what), which reduces the strength of panic attacks. It will take a couple of weeks to see some effect.

she may need councilling to help her overcome her attacks. Maybe she could try a more herbalistic approach - such as homeopathy?
