Yes in two incidents that I can recall in Missouri. Neither were fatal, but both were forced to land as a result of being fired on.

Police Helicopter Shot Down

2016-11-06 23:38:22 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

I remember an incident in the early 80's, in Southern California. No helicopter was shot down, but during a pursuit of a stolen car, Newport Beach and another agency (Costa Mesa or Huntington Beach, I can't remember which) both had their helicopters involved in keeping an eye out from the sky for the stolen car. Unfortunately, the 2 helicopters crashed into each other. All aboard died. When they finally caught the car thief, he was charged with the deaths of the helicopter crews. That raises it's own question.... do you think that charging the car thief with their death was right? (I do, by the way)
