... Joseph, that its still not proof of their bible and, in fact, throws everything their religion and bible has been teaching, and is based on, for the last two millenia into question as their savior will be shown to be a regular human being of flesh and blood and not a divine being after all?

If so, how will you react to such a thing?

All that it would prove is that they were real. It proves none of the bible. Rather like Pontius Pilat and Jeruselem. Simply names of real places and people used to make a point. That doesn't make the bible the truth.

CMW, quite right. Which is why I'm curious. It also makes me wonder since so many don't seem to understand how close we are to April Fools Day.

Though it has made me curious how the Christians will justify this in their own heads. Which is why I asked.

Likely, its just an April Fools Joke that these Christians are taking far too seriously. Though it does make me wonder about Camerons sanity. He's playing with fire with this one.

rofl. didjlord, I'm not Christian, I'm Wiccan, and pretty close to Atheist. I have two years of a biology major in University. I know that they would need two sources of DNA, which is one of the reasons I find this so questionable.

They have no way of knowing that these even are the bodies of the Christian Jesus. It could be anyone considering that Jesus, Mary, and Judah were common names during that time. Kind of like the names Heather and Michael are now.

Though this brings with it a host of other problems in that, even if it were proven true, it then throws everything Christianity has believed into turmoil as it then proves that Jesus Christ was NOT a divine being like they've been teaching for millenia.

The "discovery" of the tomb that is claimed to hold the body of Jesus was actually made in the early 1980s. At that time, it was debunked as a fraud by secular scholars. The discoverers tried to resurrect their find again in 1996, where DNA testing showed that the bones in this alleged family of Jesus, Mary and a child named Judah, were not related.

The box that supposedly holds the bones of "Jesus" is actually labeled "Huran", not "Jesus".

Plus the names Jesus and Mary were two of the most common names in use in Israel at that time. Within just the New Testament, there are three other "Jesus" and five other "Mary" mentioned beyond Jesus the Christ and Mary Magalene. Also the name "Judah" was so common that four of Jesus 12 disciples had that name - including "Judas", who betrayed him.

In the graveyard where these boxes were found, there were 71 other "Jesus" buried. Just none of them also said "son of Joseph (another common name) on them.

With no last name, very common first name, and a period of over two hundred years when this graveyard was in use, the odds of find a box labeled "Jesus son of Joseph" somehwere near a box labeled "Mary" are very, very high. In fact, it is almost a certainty that it would happen.

If this was the "Jesus" of the Bible, why would he be buried outside of Jerusalem? He (and Mary) and the rest of his family came from northern Judea. He owned a home and property in that area. Had he survived the crucifixion, married Mary, and had a child, logically he would have been buried near his home and family. Not hundreds of miles away in another country.

But, if you want to visit the tomb of Jesus, it has been identified. There are maps and records of its location that date back to within 25 years of the time of its use. It is marked with a "tombstone" that explicitly states it is the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth, called the Christ. People have been visiting it for 2000 years. A shrine was erected over it before 200 AD. A full church in the early 400s AD. And it is still visited by thousands of people every year. And, as the scriptures claim, it is empty. The body is gone.

Well, as a former christian, this would actually give some historical evidence that there was such a person... to date, there hasn't been any whatsoever.

The evidence, from what I've read so far, at least proves a familial relationship.. proves that he was most likely married to Mary Magdalene and that they had a son named Judah.

If people could take the emotion out of it, this is at the very least an interesting historical find. The odds of them having found all of these people in one family with these names are like 600 to 1. So, it has some merit to it.

I think people should at least give the documentary a chance before making a decision.
No, it doesn't prove that their bible is completely accurate. But, it would at least give an insight into the person on whom their belief is founded.
For those christians to whom faith (which is believing against the evidence) is an issue, this won't change their minds.
It doesn't make the bible truth, but it at least gives the New testament a bit of historical accuracy that it was seriously lacking with no evidence of Jesus having existed before.

Lets start from the beginning, Tomb found in 1980 in Israels Jerusalem suburb. 27 years it took to prove what, they reburied the bones as is the custom, bull crap this breaking news is to important for that custom, so I discredit the whole story as a promotion for the upcoming film. Come on people a Jewish file maker a tomb a custom of reburying the bones of GOD. Looks like someone needs to make money to me, oh and comes out after the De Vincy code oh May Maguline

Jesus will always be the son of God, sent to earth in human form to live amongst us, teach us and make the ultimate sacrifice for us. I am not afraid that the Mary Magdalene stories are true. On the contrary Jesus' sacrifice and lineage would not be any less perfect to me if he married and fathered a child. After all he came to live as man.

What is the sin in marrying and fathering children. To me this is not contrary to living a sinless life.

As CMW said it looks like a publicity stunt. Moreover that tomb was particularly created by Jewish authorities after the ressurection of Jesus Christ to confuse His followers.

It cannot be like that because in the mean time as He promised Jesus showed up to a lot of people and He shall continue to show up .

For e.g.in the life of a saint I read that a rich man or so used to invite a common man met in the street every day at launch. He used to do that because Jesus says in the Bible that must offer the people what we offer God and that if we welcome a man we welcome God at home..

So the man used to have launch or so with another comon man , every day a different unknown man or so.One day the man , after finishing launch said :you welcomed Me every day , but this time you welcomed even Me (Myself ).And the guest Man dissapeared suddenly while the master of the house was giving him water to wash His hands . So this was Jesus Christ who told us that He shall show up to those that love Him. So they shall never find His body because He is God and many saw Him...even a monk , nowadays I heard ..maybe even some of us ...God walks in the streets ..He is a God . God doesn't die.

Another true story from the life of another saint(I am Ortodox Christian like Greek and Russia in majority )- tell us how Jesus entered the little room of that saint (that saint was a common man at that time )and the saint washed His legs and then he drank the water ...I was surprised when heared such a think ...but I realised He was God (Jesus is also God , having the condition of God but obeyed to God The Father ), so if this happens to me ..I also shall wash His legs and then drink the water with which I washed His legs...Not only that I will not suffer from deseases but I will live forever , won't I ..?

Actually we know that they shall never discover that Jesus was a man , because He was Son of God and also a God.Thank you.

this is only one of many variations of these tomb stories. if you want to be believed give proof. but then with all the proof we have given showing the things of the Bible are real that you guys have turned your noses up to, why should we believe you guys with this tomb. Jesus was barried in a tomb alone and then raised from the dead. they found that tomb they have known where it was for a while. but even if there was a tomb holding Jesus body he would not have shared it with anyone.

I find it funny how you flock to controversy like a fly to poop. If you listened at all in your biology class, you would know that to prove DNA there has to be two sources. How can they prove that it is the DNA of Jesus if they don't have another credible sample to test it with. Therefore your whole question is moot.

Here we go again.

It's just two boxes with some names on them. Jesus, Marianne and Judah were very common names. If you found a crypt that said Joe, Linda and Sue, would you claim to know what family was buried there?

There is no DNA testing on the bones. They were immediately reburied.

Let's move on, folks. This is old news, no news, a publicity stunt.

The existence of Jesus' body would disprove the biblical claim that he physically ascended to heaven following his resurrection. However it seems pretty unlikely at this point that they've actually found Jesus.
