I mean, they're supposed to be godly, "love thy neighbour" and all that, but they can be really vicious sometimes! Especially when people don't agree with them. Doth they protest too much?

When they run out of arguments, which is as soon as they open their mouths, they must resort to violence and insults.

Is it not just a matter of perception. Christians see themselves being attacked by Atheists, Atheists see themselves being attacked by Christians.

In every group there will be some who join just to initiate confrontation. As with football there are some who are intersted in the game and some who support a team just to start fights with other teams supporters.

If you could get just the true Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Pagans, Hindus etc all together without the antagonists we could maybe have a rational discussion where everyone respects everyone elses beliefs.

It is unlikely to happen though, because the antagonists will always be there - making sure their voices are heard the loudest.

All I can say is, don't generalize or anything. Being a Christian doesn't by default make you a very nice person. Just like not being a Christian doesn't make you a terrible person. I'm a Christian, and I can't say anything on the behalf of cruel people who claim to be "believers." Really, I doubt they're acting any worse than anybody else, but we're held to a higher standard because we say we're supposed to be godly.

Usually nasty answers to nasty questions, that insult my intelligence, question my understanding, (as they see it), tell me I must be stupid because I don't believe in evolution, scorn my God, scorn my beliefs, and always, surely, always think that they are superior to me and us. Tell me that I must be a homophobe because I believe homosexuality is wrong. Tell me that I hate women because I am against abortion. Tell me that I am not tolerant of others or their beliefs or lack of beliefs. Blame religion for every single wrong that has ever been committed. Bash our president because he is a Christian. ( of course, Bill Clinton is a Christian but as usual he got a pass ). Bash the Pope. ( I am not Catholic but that still offends me ).

Can't tell you how many times I was told to go read some books so I would believe in evolution. Yet condemn the Bible as being written by some fools with no education.

Come onto this site for the purpose of asking retarded questions and giving condescending answers.

Other then that, no problem. Have a nice day.

Contrary to Larry's assertion, it's the believers who have set up a system that allows them to excuse bad behavior and do whatever they want. That's one of the ways that religion attracts and retains adherents.

Have you noticed that believers are fond of saying "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven"? Then you notice that they are not only not perfect, they're often not even trying to behave properly at all.

I AM a believer as you put it, but these answers come from the Spiritual Ignorant ones who DO NOT know the Word of God. They would not know it if it jumped up and bit them. Christ is TAUGHT with Love and Tenderness and KNOWLEDGE, but I am ashamed to say that these are the ones who make others who DO WANT to learn of Christ to tun against Him, AND the ones who DO LOVE HIM. I never force my beliefs on anyone, BUT if they ask, I will tell of His wonderful love and tender mercy. They can accept it OR reject it, IT is up to them, and them alone.

Well, what do you expect? Yahoo! didn't sub-categorize the 'Religion' section. And everyone's belief system is placed in the same blender together.

Could you imagine walking into a record store, and they had your favorite genre of music mixed in with music that you hate?

I think the nastiest answers can come from anyone, believers or not, its probably because they think their answer is so right that they get angry when it is challenged, of course it is wrong to be like that.

Nastiness and insults are what small-minded people fall back on when they have no arguments. And when religion has no evidence to support it, the arguments are that much harder to find and support.

That probably comes from the mean and stupid questions that people ask sometimes. Some of them are designed to do no more than make Christians mad.
