I'v just dropped my cat off at the vets for a heart scan and while he was giving her the once over, he said that she has a pocket of fat on her back leg which he is going to look at while she is having her scan. Is this a serious condition?

Most likely not, if it is just fat, but sometimes rarely, the fat pockets have a tumor in them. If so the Vet will let you know and remove it. But this is highly unlikely. Fat pockets happen to lots of cats that do not get enough exercise. I wouldn't worry about it.

Fat pockets are usually just that.. pockets of fat like we get in overweight humans. However, your vet will be wanting to probably biopsy it to rule out a tumor.

My cat had a fatty tumor which turned out to be benign. It was removed and that was the end of it.

Most likely it's just a lump of fat though.
