I'm assuming you meant "saved from being crucified."
Yes. He could have 'saved' himself. But that would have thwarted his whole purpose of coming to earth and being crucified in the first place. He had to die in order to resurrect (overcome death) so that the rest of us (regardless of belief) could also live again after physical death. This is the "free gift" of Christ. We don't have to do anything to receive it but be born.
Impossible for us to understand it all now but someday we will.
