Can you drink old beer?
Time-expired beer does not make you sick, but the flavour may have changed and turned bread-like.
Pathogenic bacteria cannot grow in beer - partly because of the content of alcohol, carbon dioxide and bitter components of hops and partly because the pH value is low, just below 4.5.
The brewery guarantees that the beer keeps its flavour and appearance during the indicated shelf-life period.
We recommend cool but frost-free storage. Protect the beer against heat from radiators etc. and against sunlight.
The bottles are labelled "best before". That means that the beer is still drinkable after the fixed expiry date but that no guarantees are given for flavour or appearance. The "old" taste appears gradually, depending on the storage conditions.
Shops and restaurants are not allowed to sell time-expired beer.

It may not be harmful, but it certainly won't taste very good. Beer does go bad, just as any naturally made product will. When you hear of "skunky" beer, this is what people mean, that the beer has gone bad.

Brewed on Dates aren't expiration dates, usually it just says for best taste drink within so many days of brewed on date. It doesn't go bad it just isn't guaranteed to taste as fresh.

As a homebrewer, I supply man or woman names to my batches (whilst i've got self assurance like it), so there is little uniformity there. nonetheless I do have some notably solid recipes that I repeat each and every now after which--one especially is termed Penultimate Porter.
